Richard Friend's photography provides an intimate, compassionate insight into the tensions between modernity and tradition, and the dramatic social and environmental changes that are unfolding across Asia - particularly Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam - and more recently in India, Nepal and Myanmar. His work has been exhibited in the UK and Canada, published in specialist photography and travel magazines and used extensively by international NGOs and development organisations.

He combines photography with his background in anthropology and international development. After completing a doctorate based on extensive ethnographic fieldwork in Southern Thailand, he spent many years as a development practitioner leading social development and conservation programmes, and policy-oriented research, photographing extensively, and publishing widely in research journals, books and reports - as well as more accessible blog and Op-Ed articles.

All photographs are available as high quality prints. For further details, pricing and delivery details please send inquiries via the Contacts page.
